A Behind-the-Scenes Look at the Latest Breakthroughs in Medical Marijuana Technologies, as Innovations TV Series Explores BUCHI Corporation

DMG Productions educates on the latest advances in medical marijuana.

Jupiter, FL— Innovations with Ed Begley Jr. announced today that it will feature BUCHI Corporation in an upcoming episode, airing third quarter 2016 via Discovery Channel. Dates and show times TBA.

This episode of Innovations will teach viewers about two of BUCHI’s products currently used in the processing and purification of medical marijuana. BUCHI’s Industrial Rotavapors are designed to remove solvent from extracted cannabis oil and to recycle that solvent for repeated use. The PrepChrom C-700, is used in the isolation of cannabidiol (CBD) and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) from other cannabinoids extracted from cannabis.

Audiences will be educated on the vacuum controlled distillation process of large volumes of hydrocarbons and alcohols from extracted plant material using the Rotavapor R-220 SE. The resulting extract is purified using the PrepChrom C-700’s flash or preparative HPLC chromatography columns. The easy to use, interactive interface enables a simplified and fast purification process. In addition, they will see how solvent removed from the extract or the chromatography fractions can be recycled and reused.

“The cannabis industry came to BUCHI for the Rotavapor, the original and highest quality rotary evaporator. As the industry has been growing, we have been working with several companies to develop applications and a knowledge base using several of our products within the process. Participating in an educational TV series like Innovations on the Discovery channel is a very exciting opportunity for us to share some of the knowledge we’ve acquired.” Said Jason Wagner, VP Marketing North America.

Growing interest in the clinical use of cannabinoids will only continue to increase with state-by-state legalization and success stories of those being treated. BUCHI offers straightforward solutions to safely separate and purify small to large size batches of the precious extracts.

“BUCHI’s Industrial Rotavapors save time by offering rapid solvent removal of ethanol up to 20 L/h,” said Robert Sikich, Producer for the Series. “In addition, The PrepChrom C-700 can detect all compounds of interest with a DAD UV-Vis detector. We look forward to enlightening audiences on this revolutionary technology.”
